My approach to couple photos, let’s enjoy and have fun

Today’s blog post is about my approach to you couple photography. I would say about 90% of my couples (maybe even all of them) say they either hate having their photo taken, or that they are not photogenic at all. I totally understand where my couples are coming from! Would you believe that I’m a photographer and I hate having my photo taken?

Camera fear/ dread is totally a real thing, I feel ya all! So I thought I would write a blog post on how I get natural fun and relaxed couple portraits that you will not only love, but enjoy doing too!

Natural, relaxed and casual portraits

First and foremost I make sure that you both feel relaxed, we might start the session by having a chat or going for a walk. I think it’s really important to connect while photographing, so often we will be laughing and joking while I’m snapping away.

Your wedding day really does fly by, and your couple portraits are one of the only times you are alone together (with me taking your photos lol), so make sure you enjoy those moments together.

Quite often people get so worried about looking awkward or even ugly in their wedding photos, but for me when you capture natural smiles and people in love, you never get that awkward Chandler Bing smile! So, I keep the couple photos relaxed, fun and natural.

Here from past couples what it’s like working with me

“You made the whole posing for photos part so easy for us both and managed to create such beautiful memories!” Katie & Sam

We’re rubbish at having our photos taken but she made it so easy. If there are people out there deliberating which photographer to choose, I highly recommend Kirsty” Jo & Matt

“We both don’t like being in front of the camera but Kirsty is just a genuinely really lovely person and so easy to get on with, you feel like you’re just messing around with a good friend – which makes the best candid photos. There is no awkward posing or staged photos – just beautifully captured moments” Tash & Theo

“My husband normally HATES having his photo taken but Kirsty made what he thought would be a very awkward situation, to be something really fun, special and enjoyable.” Emily & Dan

“You made us feel so at ease, and have done an incredible job of taking photos of us as a couple, that look so natural – we love them!” Lizzie & James

Be yourselves!

I encourage you to be yourselves entirely and enjoy the moment together. Are you a couple who joke around, awesome – go for it! Do you like a cuddle – great smooch away! I don’t ever presume that you will want to be all lovey dovey with each other, I make sure what ever happens – happens naturally.

Smoke bombs for the win!

I’m a big fan of smoke bombs and they can add a really fun (and mega colourful) element to your couple portraits – see my blog post I wrote about this here

Portraits of real love and laughter

I’m super chill so you can totally relax around me and just have super amounts of fun. I don’t make you stand and smile in front of the camera – no one wants that! I want you to dance, joke, swear, kiss, cuddle – do what ever the hell you guys want to do and I can capture what happens. I want to give you a genuine set of beautiful pictures of you and your love.

A few creative couple portraits for the wow factor

I love incorporating the environment and locations in your wedding photographs and get a little bit creative too.
